Subscriber-level cron manipulation via unchecked AJAX actions
Published Feb 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Missing authorization in Advanced Cron Manager before 2.4.2 and Pro before 2.5.3 allows remote authenticated users to alter WP-Cron jobs. The acm/rerender/events and acm/event/add/form AJAX actions expose nonces to subscribers, and acm/event/insert accepts them without a capability check. Subscriber-level access is sufficient to add or remove events and schedules, changing which WordPress background tasks run and when.
