Stored XSS via unsanitized footer replacement
Published Feb 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in WPChill Remove Footer Credit before 1.0.11 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript on site visitors. The plugin saves insufficiently sanitized replacement HTML from its settings fields and injects that value into matching page footers before rendering. Administrator-level access is required, and a visitor must load an affected page; successful exploitation runs the stored script in that visitor's browser even when unfiltered_html is disabled.
