Authenticated stored XSS via unsanitized profile data
Published Apr 4, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in King-Theme KingComposer 2.9.6 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute script through crafted profiles. The kc_create_profile AJAX action accepts attacker-controlled name, slug, and Base64-encoded data without authorization, CSRF protection, sanitization, or escaping, then stores the profile. Any authenticated WordPress account can plant the payload, which executes in another user's browser when that user retrieves the profile through kc_download_profile.
