Stored XSS via unchecked IP exclusion value
Published Feb 28, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in WP Visitor Statistics before 5.5 allows remote authenticated users to run script in an administrator's browser. The updateIpAddress AJAX handler accepts and stores the ip parameter without authorization, a CSRF check, validation, sanitization, or escaping, and the IP-exclusion page renders the value. Any logged-in account can submit the payload directly; a CSRF path requires a logged-in victim, and script execution occurs when an administrator opens that page.
