Reflected XSS via unescaped announcement search attribute
Published Jan 24, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reflected XSS in Themeum Tutor LMS before 1.9.12 allows remote attackers to execute script in an administrator's browser. The announcements admin page writes the search query into an HTML attribute without attribute escaping, allowing quotation marks to introduce event-handler markup. The victim must be signed in to WordPress and open an attacker-crafted URL; the script then runs with the victim's browser access to the site.
