Subscriber-level stored XSS via unchecked settings update
Published Feb 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in VW Themes Ibtana before 1.1.4.9 allows remote authenticated users to inject script through plugin settings. The ive_save_general_settings AJAX action stores attacker-controlled settings without authorization, CSRF validation, sanitization, or output escaping. A Subscriber account is sufficient to alter settings; the XSS consequence requires the stored value to be rendered in another user's browser.
