Reflected XSS via unescaped safe-mode parameter
Published Jan 24, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reflected XSS in Code Snippets before 2.14.3 allows remote attackers to execute script in an administrator's browser via a crafted URL. The plugin writes the snippets-safe-mode query parameter into HTML attributes without escaping it, allowing attribute breakout and script injection. A logged-in administrator must open the crafted WordPress administration URL; injected script then runs in the site's origin and can alter page content or invoke actions available to that browser session.
