Stored XSS via unsanitized answer text size
Published Mar 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in a.ankit's HTML5 Responsive FAQ 2.8.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts via a plugin setting. The answer-text-size setting accepts a closing style tag and script markup without sanitizing or escaping it, then emits the value in the site footer on every frontend page. Administrator-level access is required to store the payload, and script execution requires another user to visit a frontend page.
