Reflected XSS via unescaped form field attributes
Published Jan 24, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reflected XSS in Easy Forms for Mailchimp before 6.8.6 allows remote attackers to execute script in a user's browser via crafted form fields. The add_field_to_form AJAX action inserts field_name and field_type into HTML attributes without sanitizing or attribute-escaping them. Exploitation requires user interaction with an attacker-controlled POST, after which the returned script executes in the WordPress site's origin.
