Script execution via unescaped dashboard parameter
Published Mar 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reflected XSS in Child Theme Generator 2.2.7 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute script in an administrator's browser. WPScan states that the admin dashboard returns the parade parameter without sanitization or output escaping; its proof of concept instead puts the payload in parent. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator to visit attacker-controlled content that submits the crafted cross-origin POST, after which script executes in the WordPress session.
