Administrator-browser script execution via unescaped email attribute
Published Dec 27, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reflected XSS in Gwolle Guestbook before 4.2.0 allows remote attackers to execute script in an administrator's browser via a crafted form. The entries administration page places the gwolle_gb_user_email POST parameter into an HTML attribute without sanitization or attribute escaping. Exploitation requires an authenticated administrator to visit attacker-controlled content that submits the form; the script then runs in that WordPress administration session.
