CVE-2021-24962Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Contributor-level code execution via shortcode path traversal

Published Mar 28, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Path traversal in Iptanus File Upload Free and Pro before 4.16.3 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary PHP code. The imagename and videoname shortcode attributes accept traversal sequences that direct an image upload into an auto-loaded plugin directory. Contributor access is sufficient to publish the crafted shortcode, upload PHP disguised as an image, and execute it in the WordPress server context.
