Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped shortcode arguments
Published Mar 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Iptanus File Upload and File Upload Pro before 4.16.3 allows remote authenticated users to inject script via shortcode arguments. The shortcode renderer inserts attacker-controlled widths and resetmode values into generated page markup without sufficient output escaping, allowing attribute breakout and script execution. Contributor access is sufficient to save the crafted shortcode, and execution occurs when another user previews or views the affected post.
