Authenticated file read via unchecked import path
Published Feb 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Arbitrary file read in ThinkUpThemes RVM before 6.4.2 allows remote authenticated users to read server files through an AJAX request. The rvm_import_regions AJAX action accepts the rvm_upload_regions_file_path parameter without authorization, CSRF protection, or path validation, then returns the referenced file. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and the demonstrated consequence is disclosure of any file readable by the web-server process.
