Admin-level PHP code execution via unsanitized visibility logic
Published Dec 26, 2022 · Updated Apr 14, 2025
Code injection in shazdeh Menu Item Visibility Control through 0.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary PHP via menu visibility logic. The plugin stores and later evaluates the Visibility logic option without sanitizing or validating its contents, so PHP supplied by an administrator runs when menu visibility is evaluated. The gate is administrator-level WordPress access; successful exploitation can execute server-side code with the web process privileges and affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
