Administrator-session actions via unchecked settings update
Published Nov 29, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Smash Balloon Social Post Feed before 4.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to inject JavaScript into site content. The wp_ajax_cff_save_settings action accepts subscriber requests without capability or nonce checks, and cff_save_settings stores customJS without sanitizing it. A subscriber account is sufficient, but an administrator must visit an affected post or page for the script to execute in that administrator's session.
