Visitor monitoring and removal via unchecked AJAX actions
Published Dec 6, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Missing authorization in Tawk.to Live Chat before 0.6.0 allows remote authenticated users to monitor visitors or remove chat widgets. The tawkto_setwidget and tawkto_removewidget AJAX handlers neither enforce capabilities nor validate CSRF tokens before writing widget identifiers or deleting the widget. A subscriber session is sufficient to redirect chat to an attacker-controlled instance, expose visitor messages, present arbitrary Knowledge Base content, or disable chat.
