Unauthenticated plugin deactivation via unchecked request
Published Jan 24, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Missing authorization in Protect WP Admin before 3.6.2 allows remote attackers to disable the security plugin via a crafted request. The public lib/pwa-deactivate.php handler processes the disable_pwa or pwa_inactive parameter without verifying authorization. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation removes the plugin's renamed-login and access restrictions.
