CVE-2021-24891Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Browser script execution via unsanitized lightbox hash

Published Nov 23, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

DOM-based XSS in Elementor Website Builder before 3.4.8 allows remote attackers to execute script in a visitor's browser via a crafted URL hash. The lightbox action parser decodes attacker-controlled settings from #elementor-action and inserts the supplied HTML into the DOM without sanitizing or escaping it. A victim must open the crafted URL on an Elementor page; successful exploitation runs JavaScript in that page's origin, enabling page data access or actions available to the victim.
