User redirection via unvalidated REST parameter
Published Jan 17, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Open redirect in AnyComment before 0.3.5 allows remote attackers to send users to an arbitrary site through a crafted REST API URL. The unauthenticated /wp-json/anycomment/v1/auth/wordpress endpoint passes the redirect parameter directly to wp_redirect() without validating its destination. A victim must follow an attacker-crafted link; the resulting trusted-site redirect sends the victim to an attacker-selected destination.
