Restricted-content disclosure via unchecked shortcode post ID
Published Dec 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Incorrect authorization in Page/Post Content Shortcode 1.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read restricted WordPress content. The post-content-sc and page-content-sc shortcodes accept an attacker-chosen post ID and render draft, private, password-protected, or trashed content without checking whether the caller may view that post. Contributor-level access is sufficient to preview a post containing the shortcode and disclose content belonging to administrators or editors.
