Post category tampering via unrestricted AJAX actions
Published Nov 8, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Incorrect authorization in Lenin Lee Batch Cat 0.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to alter post categories via AJAX. The bcat_set_category, bcat_add_category, and bcat_delete_category actions accept post and category identifiers without restricting access by WordPress role or capability. Subscriber-level access is sufficient to add, replace, or delete category assignments on arbitrary posts, affecting content integrity.
