Admin-level SQL injection via unvalidated sort order
Published Nov 17, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
SQL injection in XWP Stream before 3.8.2 allows remote authenticated users to alter database queries through the admin dashboard. The Stream Records request path passes the entire order GET value, escaped only with esc_sql(), into the SQL ordering clause instead of restricting it to ASC or DESC. Administrator-level access to Stream Records is required, and database effects are bounded by the WordPress database account.
