Administrator script execution via unescaped logged IP address
Published Dec 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Activity Log for WordPress before 1.0.21 allows remote attackers to execute script in an administrator's browser. The plugin stores an IP address taken from unauthenticated login requests without sanitizing or validating it, then renders the value in its administrative activity log without escaping. Exploitation requires an administrator to view the poisoned log, exposing data and actions available to that administrator's browser session.
