Subscriber-level SQL injection via unescaped refUrl
Published Dec 21, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
SQL injection in WP Visitor Statistics before 4.8 allows remote authenticated users to read WordPress database data through an AJAX request. The refDetails AJAX action inserts the requests object's attacker-controlled refUrl value into a database query without proper sanitization or escaping. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and a published UNION SELECT proof of concept retrieves email addresses and password hashes from the WordPress users table.
