Administrator setting change via nonce-free request
Published Oct 18, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in Compact WP Audio Player before 1.9.7 allows remote attackers to change an administrator's playback setting. The settings-menu save handler accepts a POST to options-general.php with sc_audio_player_settings and sc_audio_disable_simultaneous_play without validating a nonce. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator's browser to submit the crafted form; the demonstrated consequence is limited to changing simultaneous playback behavior.
