Authenticated media metadata tampering via unchecked AJAX action
Published Feb 28, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Missing authorization in InfornWeb Logo Showcase before 1.2.5 allows remote authenticated users to alter arbitrary media metadata. The lswss_save_attachment_data AJAX action accepts an attacker-chosen attachment ID and writes submitted title, description, alt text, and URL fields without authorization or CSRF checks. Subscriber-level access is sufficient to change metadata for any uploaded media, affecting stored-content integrity.
