Stored script execution via unescaped effect settings
Published Oct 11, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in A WP Life Weather Effect before 1.3.6 allows remote authenticated users to execute script through crafted effect settings. The settings handler accepts crafted size, count, and speed values and later inserts them into generated front-end effect markup without context-appropriate validation or escaping. Administrator access is required to store the payload, which executes when another user loads a page displaying the configured effect.
