Stored script execution via CSRF form editing
Published Dec 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in Basix NEX-Forms before 8.4.3 allows remote attackers to inject script through an administrator's browser. The nf_update_record AJAX action accepts form_fields and settings without a CSRF nonce check, stores them, and later emits values into dashboard attributes without escaping. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator to submit the forged request and view the affected dashboard, where the script runs in the site's origin with that session.
