Subscriber-level plugin activation via unchecked AJAX action
Published Nov 23, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Broken access control in EventPrime Events Download Plugin before 1.6.1 allows remote authenticated users to activate installed plugins. The dpwap_plugin_activate AJAX action performs neither a WordPress capability check nor a CSRF nonce check before activating the supplied plugin path. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and a cross-site request can trigger the state change when an authenticated user interacts with attacker-controlled content.
