Authenticated file disclosure via unchecked download paths
Published Mar 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Path traversal in Simple Download Monitor before 3.9.5 allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary server files. Its PHP-dispatch download flow accepts a Contributor-configured file URL containing ../ segments and resolves it outside the intended content path without a containment check. Contributor access and direct PHP dispatch are required; exposed files can include wp-config.php and its database credentials.
