Arbitrary favicon change via CSRF
Published Nov 8, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-Site Request Forgery in Genie WP Favicon through 0.5.2 allows remote attackers to change a logged-in administrator's favicon via a crafted request. The admin update endpoint at themes.php?page=gpwmf accepts the favicon upload without a CSRF token or equivalent request validation. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator to load attacker-controlled content; the bounded impact is unauthorized favicon modification without reported data disclosure or service interruption.
