Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Oct 18, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in One Designs One User Avatar before 2.3.7 allows remote authenticated users to execute script through an avatar shortcode. The shortcode handler outputs attacker-controlled link and target attributes without escaping, so crafted values become executable markup when the stored shortcode is rendered. Contributor access is sufficient to store a payload, and script execution requires another user to view the affected content.
