Administrator-level stored XSS via unescaped attributes
Published Nov 8, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in WPSchoolPress before 2.1.17 allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to execute script in an administrator's browser. Attendance reasons, subject-mark fields, subject names, and exam names are sanitized as text but inserted into HTML attributes without output escaping, so a quote can inject an event handler. Administrator access is required to store a payload, and script execution occurs when an administrator opens the affected add or edit view.
