Stored XSS via unsanitized profile picture URL
Published Oct 4, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in WPEverest User Registration & Membership before 2.0.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via profile data. The user_registration_update_profile_details AJAX action stores a directly submitted user_registration_profile_pic_url without adequate sanitization, and the profile view renders the value into the page. Subscriber access and a valid profile-update nonce are sufficient; the script runs when any user views the poisoned profile, within that viewer's browser session.
