Unauthenticated account takeover via trusted social-login fields
Published Nov 8, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Authentication bypass in Pie Register before 3.7.1.6 allows remote attackers to access any account through a crafted social-login request. The login handler trusts the social_site flag and attacker-supplied user_id_social_site or log value without verifying the external identity. An exposed Pie Register login page and a known user ID or username are sufficient to create a session with that account's privileges, including administrator access when targeted.
