Stored script execution via unsanitized block settings
Published Sep 20, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Fonts Plugin before 3.0.3 allows remote authenticated users with Contributor access to execute scripts through Gutenberg blocks. The Gutenberg block accepts blockType, content, align, color, variant, and fontID values and places them into page markup without sufficient sanitization or escaping. A Contributor must save a crafted block and a victim must view the resulting page, where the script runs with access to data and actions available in that visitor's browser session.
