Stored XSS via incomplete translated-string sanitization
Published Sep 27, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in Cozmoslabs TranslatePress before 2.0.9 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in visitors' browsers. The trp_sanitize_string function removes only script elements with a regular expression, leaving event-handler attributes in stored translated HTML executable. Administrator access to the front-end translation editor is required; viewing a page containing the translation triggers the payload in another user's browser.
