Authenticated script execution via unescaped username setting
Published Sep 6, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site scripting in the SMS Alert plugin before 3.4.7 allows remote authenticated users to execute script through its settings page. The SMS Alert Username field accepts an attribute-breaking value and returns it to the settings form without proper output encoding, allowing focus attributes to execute JavaScript. Access to the plugin settings is required, and execution is confined to the browser session that renders or focuses the poisoned field.
