Stored XSS via unsanitized Sharing Header output
Published Sep 6, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in AddToAny Share Buttons before 1.7.46 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts through the Sharing Header setting. The plugin stores that setting without sanitization and inserts it into frontend pages, causing browsers to interpret administrator-supplied event handlers as executable content. Administrator-level access is required to save the payload, and execution occurs when a user visits an affected site's frontend page.
