Stored XSS via unprotected settings attribute output
Published Aug 23, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in LukasApps Contact Form 7 Captcha before 0.0.9 allows remote attackers to run script in an administrator's browser. The settings handler accepts attacker-supplied cf7sr_* values without a CSRF token, then inserts those values into HTML attributes without escaping. Exploitation requires a manage_options user to submit a crafted cross-site form and later load the affected settings view, allowing script execution in that privileged browser context.
