Arbitrary file read via unsanitized filename path
Published Aug 23, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Path traversal in Shane Thompson AceIDE 2.6.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary server files via a filename parameter. The aceide_get_file handler appends the unsanitized POST filename to the filesystem root and passes the resulting path to WP_Filesystem::get_contents. Administrator access and a valid request nonce are required; exploitation discloses files readable by the web server outside the WordPress content directory.
