Unauthenticated script execution via unescaped widget parameter
Published Aug 9, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reflected XSS in ProfilePress before 3.1.11 allows remote attackers to execute script in an administrator's browser via a crafted request. The tabbed login/register widget inserts the tabbed-login-name request parameter into its output without proper escaping, while several paths copy POST values into GET processing. The widget must be present and an administrator must load the crafted request; the script runs in that session and can expose wp-admin access.
