Remote code execution via unvalidated AJAX uploads
Published Aug 9, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Arbitrary file upload in AmentoTech Workreap before 2.2.2 allows remote attackers to execute PHP code through WordPress AJAX. The two uploader actions accept a supplied file without a nonce, authentication, filename sanitization, or file-type validation and save it under uploads/workreap-temp. No account or user interaction is required; successful upload places attacker-controlled PHP in a web-accessible directory and enables site takeover.
