Authenticated script execution via unescaped PayPal setting
Published Aug 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in the Bookshelf WordPress plugin 2.0.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute script via a crafted PayPal email setting. The plugin stores the PayPal email address without sanitization and outputs it on the settings page without escaping, so injected markup becomes executable JavaScript. An authenticated user must save the payload, and a victim must load the affected page; execution is confined to that victim's browser context.
