Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode anchor
Published Aug 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in David McCan Yada Wiki before 3.4.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via a crafted shortcode anchor. The yadawiki shortcode places the anchor value into a rendered link without sanitization, validation, or escaping, so a quote closes the attribute and injects an event handler. Contributor-level post editing and a visitor who views and interacts with the crafted link are required, exposing that visitor's browser context to attacker-controlled JavaScript.
