Administrator browser script execution via forged requests
Published Aug 16, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in Chad Butler Verse-O-Matic 4.1.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute script in an administrator's browser. The settings and verse handlers accept forged administrator requests without CSRF checks and store unsanitized parameter values for later rendering. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator to submit an attacker-controlled request, enabling verse deletion, settings changes, or persistent browser-script execution.
