CVE-2021-24444Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Stored script execution via unsanitized taxonomy descriptions

Published Aug 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Stored XSS in TaxoPress before 3.0.7.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript when a user views the Taxonomies table. The plugin stores the taxonomy description without sanitizing it and renders that value in the Taxonomies table, so an injected event handler executes. A high-privilege account must be able to add or edit a taxonomy, and another user's table view triggers the payload even when unfiltered_html is denied.
