Administrator-context script execution via unescaped ga_action attribute
Published Aug 30, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reflected XSS in ShareThis Dashboard for Google Analytics before 2.5.2 allows remote attackers to execute script in an administrator's browser. The stats view writes the unsanitized ga_action parameter into an HTML attribute, allowing crafted input to break out and create executable markup. The plugin must be connected to Google Analytics, and a logged-in administrator must open the crafted admin-page URL; execution is limited to that browser context.
