Stored XSS via unchecked settings output
Published Aug 16, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Kjeld Schmidt Social Tape 1.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute script through forged settings requests. The plugin's settings handler accepts social-link values without a CSRF token check or sanitization, stores them, and outputs them without escaping. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator to submit the forged request; the stored script then runs in the administrator's browser when the settings page is viewed.
